St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 5th Avenue in New York City
St. Thomas Episcopal Church on 5th Avenue in New York City is a pretty old church. There have been 4 churches on this property since 1824. The current church structure was built in from 1911 to 1913. The story of this church is an interesting one. Apparently, in 1906 the reverend of this church emptied the churches funds to help out the city of San Francisco after the big earthquake. People around the country heard this story, and everyone contributed to help replenish the reverend's funds. One of the most impressive elements of this church is that its organ has 9,050 pipes! It sounds incredible.
